Dog Home Euthanasia Visit

Paws Over The Rainbow offers you the chance to say goodbye to your beloved dog in their own surroundings.

A vet will come to your house at an agreed time. If you need some assurance you are taking the right decision, the vet will start out by examining your dog. If you know euthanasia is the right decision, however, this is not necessary. Instead we will interact and bond with your dog to make them comfortable in our company.

There will be a brief form to go through, where you consent to the humane euthanasia and specify your choice for aftercare. When everyone feels ready, the vet will administer a sedative injection under the skin that will make your dog fall into a deep sleep. It normally takes 10-15 minutes for the injection to take effect. When your dog is asleep the vet administers the final injection, which is an overdose of anaesthetic, which will make your dog pass away peacefully and pain free.

We are always happy to speak to you before the visit if you have any questions, would like more details on the process or if you have an anxious or reactive dog that might benefit from some calming medication before the visit.
