Join a gentle walk led by Amy & Peta to honour the beloved pets who have touched our lives.

Bring a photo, share a memory, or simply walk with us in loving remembrance. It’s a day to celebrate their unconditional love, cherish the joy they brought into our lives, and find comfort in a community that understands.
All are welcome – whether you’re remembering a pet or supporting friends who are.
At Paws Over The Rainbow we understand how life changing losing a pet can be. It can be a very isolating experience and it is normal for families to struggle with the grief. We would therefore like to offer families an opportunity to meet likeminded people for a memorial walk in local beautiful nature.
Everyone is welcome to attend, whether you have needed our help in the past or you have not met us before. Please feel welcome to bring family and friends.
The walk will be about 30 minutes at a pace to accommodate everyone. Friendly calm dogs are welcome to join the walk. Please wear weather appropriate foot wear and clothes.
We’ll meet at the main car park at Burbage Common, located on Burbage Common Road.
This is reached via the layby off the B4668 Leicester Road, between Earl Shilton and Hinckley.
Once you enter the main car park, you’re in the right place!
After the walk, we’ll gather at Acorns Coffee Shop, located inside the Visitors Centre, right next to the car park, for drinks and cake.

The lovely Amy Bird and Peta Harris will be on hand to make sure everyone feels welcome and will lead the walk. They are both experienced qualified veterinary nurses with a passion for end-of-life care and an understanding of the grief caused by losing a pet. This understanding comes from their work supporting families in practice but as importantly from being pet owners themselves and knowing how it feels to lose a furry family member.
Please meet Amy, facilitator of our memorial walks:
Amy has always loved animals and knew she wanted to be a veterinary nurse since school. Before qualifying as a nurse, she worked in equine rehab and bred alpacas amongst other exotic jobs such as growing mushrooms in France.
When Amy started working in clinical practice, she found a real passion for end-of-life care and supporting families at their saddest times. She is currently undergoing the training to become a Pet Bereavement Counsellor for the Blue Cross.
In her spare time Amy walks her two rescue dogs, and enjoys crafting.
Please meet Peta, facilitator of our memorial walks:
Peta will be celebrating her 20th anniversary as a qualified vet nurse next year. Over the years she has developed a real passion for supporting senior patients. Peta is also a qualified hydrotherapist and holds a certificate in Animal Behaviour. More recently, she played a pivotal role in setting up a dedicated bereavement room at her current practice to offer families a more peaceful and private experience when having to say goodbye to their pets at the vets.
Peta’s furry family currently consist of a bunch of guinea pigs, a 1 year old Cockador, a 1.5 year old Cocker Spaniel, and her lovely horse Monty.
