The Team

Paws Over the Rainbow was created after our founding vet, Tine Headland, sadly had to euthanise her beloved dog, Tank in 2021. Despite the grief her family experienced there was a real relief in knowing Tank felt safe in his own home and was allowed to pass away with everyone he loved surrounding him and without any time pressure.

Paws Over the Rainbow is here so that any family having to take the sad decision of parting with a beloved pet has the choice of saying goodbye at home peacefully and dignified.

We are a small team of three experienced, compassionate vets with many years of experience from clinical practice. We are passionate about making the final journey as gentle as possible for both the pet and their family as possible.

Tine with Tank

Tine has been a vet in clinical practice for more than 15 years mainly working in a busy referral hospital. Losing her beloved dog, Tank, in 2021 led to reflection on how important a dignified and peaceful goodbye is and a passion for helping families and pets with end-of-life decisions developed.

A home environment will often help create a special goodbye with our pets, and Tine set up Paws Over the Rainbow to give families the choice of having their beloved pet pass away at home.

Since May 2025 Tine has devoted all of her working time to Paws Over the Rainbow. Outside of work she is busy looking after her young family and a rescue tortoise.

Laura with Newt and Sprout

Laura has been a vet in clinical practice for more than 15 years mainly working in a busy referral hospital where she does a combination of night shifts and shifts where she looks after poorly hospitalised pets.

Laura is a pet owner herself, and sadly has had to say goodbye to some of her own very loved pets in her adult life. She  understands the pain that follows such a loss and she always strives to offer a calm, safe and compassionate goodbye to the families she helps.

Outside of work Laura is busy keeping up with her two young border collies, her small flock of chickens and her tortoise. She also loves exercise and is often seen running the countryside with her dogs.

Emily with Bueno and Callie

Emily has been a vet in clinical practice for more than 5 years mainly working in a busy referral hospital. Ever since being a student her caring nature and commitment to animal welfare has shone through. Emily founded Trusty Paws Liverpool whilst at university, which is a student-led initiative providing free veterinary care to the dogs of homeless and vulnerable individuals. Emily brings the same compassion when she visits any family finding themselves in the sad situation of having to let their beloved pet go.

Outside of work Emily keeps busy with her two dogs, Bueno the Springer Spaniel and Callie a spaniel-rescue who recently joined her and her husband. Emily is also a social butterfly loving to spend time with family and friends.

Sarah with Lottie

Sarah has been a veterinary nurse for over 18 years. Her many years in clinical practice means she knows how important it is for pets and their families to have a gentle, supportive end-of-life experience. That’s why Sarah has chosen to join the Paws Over The Rainbow team, so she can help us offer comfort, kindness, and reassurance during such a difficult time.

Sarah also volunteers with StreetVet and The Cinnamon Trust, supporting pets and owners in vulnerable situations. Being there for animals and the people who love them has always mattered to Sarah and she feels privileged being able to help as a volunteer.

Outside of work, life with three boys often means you’ll find Sarah on the sidelines of a football pitch on the weekend or chasing their crazy dog Lottie round a field.
